Bridal Perfumes for a Summer Wedding

Bridal Perfumes for a Summer Wedding

A couple of weeks ago we had the privilege of being asked to host a pop up Bridal Perfume Workshop at a wedding event that had been organised by our partners and retail giants Notonthehighstreet.

The event was held in One Marylebone, a very grand former church with sweeping arched ceilings and a dramatic and classic elegance and was open to journalists, press and wedding organisers to see the products and services that Notonthehighstreet partners offered for this exciting and growing market.

The place had been decorated with a wedding theme to showcase the abundance and variety of handmade items including wedding dresses, jewellery, gifts, shoes, wedding decorations, flowers, cards, and anything else you could think of that was related to weddings. In one room there was a mock outdoor wedding set up to showcase handmade decorations for a spring or summer wedding, then there was the invites, the cutlery for the wedding dinner and even a mixology class for the hen party. In the “dressing room” was intricate, handcrafted wedding dresses, along with tiara’s and veils, jewellery and shoes and then there was me, with my stand demonstrating our Bridal Perfume Experience.

In our pop up workshop I showcased the raw materials that I used to make my perfumes, the process behind making perfume, my inspiration and then finally I blended 3 Bridal Perfume formula’s that I had created exclusively for the event. The 3 Bridal fragrances were created specifically for a Summer Wedding. 2 of the Bridal Perfumes were made for brides and 1 for the groom. None of these fragrances are available for resale.

ZEN

Eau de Cologne

Inspired by the ancient art of Meditation and the exotic smells of the orient Zen starts by opening with top notes of Basil, Bergamot and Lemon before revealing it’s heart – a fresh and spicy accord of Clary Sage, Cardomom, Ginger and Frankincense before settling down into a base of smoky musk and luxurious woods including Cedarwood, Sandalwood and Vetiver.

DAY OF THE ROSE

Eau de Parfum

Day of the Rose is a showstopping Oriental fragrance for the bride who wants to make a dramatic entrance on her wedding day and stay in the mind and heart of her man forever. Opening with a radiant top note of Blood Orange and Bergamot with an intoxicating floral bouquet of white flowers including Tuberose, Rose and Gardenia and a base of Vanilla, Amber and Sandalwood, it is all at once incredibly romantic, mysterious and effortlessly sensual.

BOHEMIAN HONEYMOON

Eau de Toilette

Bohemian Honeymoon is a light floral fragrance – the scent for a bohemian bride with a natural beauty and a care-free and innocent femininity that opens gently with fresh top notes of Linden Blossom and Grapefruit, followed by a floral heart of Neroli, Jasmine and Gardenia with a seductive base of precious musk and exotic woods.

The whole experience was hugely satisfying and though it was a long day, I left feeling inspired and encouraged as we received lots of compliments on all 3 fragrances, and the workshops themselves. As for me, there is nothing more enjoyable then sharing my passion about perfumery with the world!

A FRAGRANCE FOR THE ROMANTICALLY FRAGRANT

With our Bridal Fragrance Service, the Bride can create the perfume of her dreams to match her flower arrangement, her favourite smells, a memory or a feeling to wear on her wedding day, her wedding night or her honeymoon. There really is no better way to commemorate one of the most important days and moments in your life then to capture your memories in scent. And unlike other Bridal Perfume making experiences we invite you to be part of the process from start to finish. We do not use pre mixed bases and we do not offer fragrance combining, so you will have a completely bespoke bridal fragrance that can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. And you will know exactly what goes into it as you will be there to create it along with a perfumer who will guide you in the process.

This unique service we also offer as a fun hen party activity, an activity for the bride and groom to do together or just for the groom as we also make bespoke cologne’s. We can come to you or you can come to us, and as always our experiences include personal attention, expert advice plus Prosecco and Cake.

Oriental Perfume Making Workshop

Oriental Perfume Making Workshop

Last weekend was our Spring Perfume Making Workshop where I taught a workshop on Spring inspired Perfumes in a beautiful space above a jewellery shop in Hatton Garden.

We drunk prosecco, made some beautiful perfumes and generally made merry – it was a really relaxing, beautiful day and my guests said that they had really enjoyed the experience (infact one of them had even travelled all the way from Munich to attend!). Flattering indeed.

And for me, well to be honest it didn’t really feel like work at all. I really enjoy teaching and though I don’t know everything I enjoy the process of teaching, learning and being taught. Indeed, these ladies had some things to teach me as one was an aromatherapist, and the other a natural skincare maker. It IS nice being in the presence of likeminded fellows. Since our theme was spring we concentrated on making scents that were floral, green/aromatic and/or citrus and I really think we achieved this. The ladies were certainly very happy with their creations.

So since this Perfume Gift Experience seems to be going so well (and since I’m a little bit obsessed with it), I think I will continue!

I have just organised my next workshop which this time will be on Oriental Fragrances.

Oriental Fragrances, along with Florals, are one of the most popular types of fragrance and so I thought it would be a great idea to do a workshop using some of the sexiest aromatic materials around. Think dusky woods, musks, sensual florals and spices.

I love Clerkenwell so I decided to host the workshop in Clerkenwell again, close to Hatton Garden, Sadler’s Wells and Exmouth Market.

If prosecco, cake and perfume making sounds like a good idea to you then why don’t you come along?

Tickets are available on Eventbrite

A lesson in love

A lesson in love

“Make me a Fragrance that Smells like Love”

Christian Dior

This Saturday 11th February I am going to be hosting a Valentine’s inspired Perfume Making Workshop and it’s wonderfully exciting!

When I first started learning about Perfumery some years ago, it was partly the love for the complexity and beauty of the oils that seduced me but also the mystery of this elusive and magical art. The thought of being a perfumer to me was very romantic. And somehow forbidden, because back in the days a Perfumer was to be also an alchemist, an aromatherapist, and a sacred person.

Perfumery has always been a very secretive profession and there are only a smattering of Perfumery Schools these days who even teach it. I was lucky in that I was interested in learning mainly about natural perfumes (most of the perfumes you buy these days are made with chemicals) so I was able to find a local course teaching perfumery by a very eccentric Chinese perfumer and botanist who seemed reasonably delighted with my amateur creations.  I was hooked.

What I always wanted to do however was make bespoke perfumes for people. It’s why I started making candles, to assuage my need for creating fragrances, and why I started The Secret Scent Société and why I finally, after finding the right space to do it in, have started offering Bespoke Perfume Making Classes in London. In this respect I think I’ve finally found my calling.

The first event is in London with the theme of Valentines Day which means different things for different people, but for me it definitely means flowers! So we will be making perfumes with a variety of different essential oils (as it’s a natural perfume making workshop), and people will be smelling, selecting, building, and blending their very own creations on the day.

I’m really excited about offering this experience to people and I look forward to doing many more in the future!

If you would like to know more, are thinking of coming along or know someone who might like being a perfumer for the day then forward this onto them!
