The definition of Cool.

Recently, I was contacted by the co-founder of a new social e-commerce website called Framestr. He had seen some of my products on Ezebee (www.ezebee.com) and wanted me to join them and make my products available for sale on their site. The concept of Framestr is pretty simple: You upload your products (or there wizard can copy your information from another e-commerce site), and then you can use their site as a platform to encourage users to share and promote your products. If you make a sale as a result of their efforts, they (meaning the user) make a commission on the sale. Simples!

The beauty of it is that Framestr have no fees and YOU set the commission rate on each product, so everybody benefits. Genius or what?!

Apparently Oprah and VOGUE are both fans. I have signed up as I think it’s great and I really see it going global.

It’s a work in progress at the moment but you can see my store here: http://framestr.com/thesecretscentsociete

We’ve come to a bit of a lull here in The Secret Scent Societe’ lab but rather then sit about stewing over the whats the whys and the wheres I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands and try getting my products into some magazines. I don’t know what stopped me from doing this before, fear perhaps, but I’ve decided that fear isn’t going to get my brand where I want it to be. I realise now that without setting any realistic tasks and goals I would continue to feel de-motivated and ask myself what the point was. Understanding that this is normal, and that I’m far from being the only one is the first step to deciding how to remedy the problem. So I took some advice that my cousin gave me last week about contacting the magazines and websites that I want my products to be featured in and have contacted the editor of my favourite magazine of all Stylist. There page The Style List always has an eyecatching variety of products both from well known brands and small independent ones. It’s infact the one place where I know that my products would do well to be seen in, as in actually result in sales, which unfortunately not what happened after my ad in VOGUE (sad but true). In reality all marketing and promotion is a gamble, and sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn’t. But I do believe that being seen in Stylist is a positive and progressive step towards being where I want to be: An established brand that people can’t help but to be loyal to. I appreciate that they must get tons of people contacting them about being in there magazine so I have sent an email offering a free sample of my products. I mean, who doesn’t want a freebie?
I think that since I’m on a roll there’s no point in stopping there.

Over the next few weeks I’m going to contact a few other publications about being featured. Aferall they can only say no huh?

Has fear ever held you back from doing things you want to do? And if so, what did you do about it in the end?

Happy Friday!

And what a glorious one it is too! If you’re at home stuck indoors get out! tis truly gorgeous today (mind you I can’t talk as I’m sitting at my PC indoors typing to you!), lol

So, I know it’s been awhile since I updated you with a Etsy feature, but that’s not because I haven’t had any – I just honestly haven’t had the time.

BRIDEZILLA! has been edited now, I’m just getting my Aunty Jacqui to proofread it one more time before I upload it for sale in Amazon. It needs to be formatted for use as a Kindle download as I’m hoping that I’ve done everything correctly!

Without further ado, this treasury is entitled “Summer Signs” and features my Coconut & Fig scented candle “Anniversary”.

The finest body scrub ever?…

The finest body scrub ever?…

Well, possibly!

I was recently contacted by a Beauty and Lifestyle blogger who regularly writes reviews on large and small independent companies beauty products. She’s based in the UK, and has a very easy to understand, unbiased yet thorough writing style that I liked so I was very happy to send her 2 of my products to review. I sent her: Himalayan Pink Salt Body Scrub Souffle’ and Frankincense & Myrr (Frankincense & Myrrh) Soy Pillar Candle. She claims that my body scrub is possibly the finest scrub she’s ever used! Needless to say I am very flattered 🙂

Good Morning Everyone!

And what a beautiful month of July it’s turning out to be! Almost everyone I’ve spoken to has said that they had a BBQ this weekend, which explains why I couldn’t find anymore Halloumi in Sainsburys! hmpf 😉

I still haven’t found a product photographer to take some new pictures of my products and if I don’t get a response very soon I may have to just do the photo’s myself (again!).

My brother is running a Cardio Circuit workout class in North London on Monday evenings and I went along for the first time yesterday and almost COLLAPSED from the intensity of it. Goodness gracious me twas intense!! You end up using up so much energy that you keep on burning calories for the next 24 hours. I already feel a good few pounds lighter!

I created these new products last week:

Organic Beauty Balm (200 ml)

Our Organic Beauty Balm is a delicately fragrant balm that has been handmade with 100% natural ingredients including Jasmine and Vanilla Essential Oils, Beeswax and Avocado Butter. Our Beauty Balm will nourish and revitalise dull, dry, tired skin and keep your skin soft and supple.

Our Organic Beauty Balm comes in a beautiful blush pink frosted glass squat jar.

Luxury Bath Salts (200 ml)

With a combination of mineral rich salts and skin loving Jojoba Oil, these wonderful bath salts will not only act as a softener for your skin, but will fill the air with beautiful fragrant nuances whilst you bathe. 100% natural and preservative free.

Our Luxury Bath Salts come in a smoke grey frosted glass kilner jar.

Triple Whipped Body Butter (200 ml)

A wonderfully rich, triple whipped non greasy skin quenching body butter, made with luxurious, natural skin pampering ingredients including Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil and Grapeseed Oil with the delightfully sweet and herbaceous scent of Lavender Essential Oil.

Presented in a blush pink frosted glass squat jar.

Etsy Treasuries

Etsy Treasuries

The purpose of an Etsy Treasury is to promote and give credence to other designer/makers who make things that you admire and are inspired by. You can theme it, comment on it, edit it and you can make as many Treasurys as you like. It is not meant to be a self promotional tool so when you create your Treasury it is not expected for you to add your own personal products to it. It’s a celebration of other peoples work, and it feels nice knowing that you are helping to promote someone else’s business!

When you have made a Treasury an automatic email notification is sent to the designer/makers to let them know that they have been featured which is a nice touch.

Here is a Treasury that I created, with the theme of Peach:

And here is a Treasury my Opulent Reed Diffusers have been featured in, with the theme of Home:
