My holiday on the white isles..

My holiday on the white isles..

I’m not one for taking lots of pictures whilst on holiday as I find it to be quite a bore, but I thought that it’d be nice to do a photo montage of my holiday in Ibiza for your viewing pleasure. So here it is! I hope you enjoy 🙂

We dined at the fabulous Montauk, a brand spanking new steak restaurant that has just opened up in Ushuaia. We were given the choice of a selection of 3 knives, one from Spain, which was beautiful with a white marbled handle, one from Japan (needless to say the sharpest of the 3), and one from the UK: Twas quite plain. I went for the white marbled knife from Spain.
For dinner I had a beautifully cooked fillet steak and lobster with triple cooked chips. The blue cheese sauce (that I stole from my boyfriend as I hadn’t ordered any!) was particularly good. The meal was on the pricey side, but the service and the food was of a very high standard therefore I felt the prices were justifiable. Also, the décor in there was very nice indeed.

Afterwards, we partied at the infamous Ushuaia Beach Hotel. I never thought a party could top the party I went to at Ushuaia the year before as it was amazing beyond words, but it did. It never ceases to amaze me just how good parties at Ushuaia are. Carl Cox and Pete Tong were there with the sound, and the quality of the sound was so good you could feel the music pulsating through every orifice of your body. The uniquely attired performers on stage done everything from silks, to hoops to walking on stilts, and there were lights, fireworks, lasers, the whole caboodle if dancing wasn’t your thing. What a night. It felt like the best party on earth, and it probably was.

In terms of restaurants, Ibiza has some truly great ones, and we went to the Thai restaurant Bambuddah Grove whilst we were there, which is a favourite of my boyfriend and I. It was the first time my sister and cousin had been to Ibiza so we took them there knowing that they would love it. And they did. My cocktail, named Orgasmic Delight, was very aptly named. It had: Vanilla Vodka, Passion Fruit, Vanilla Syrup and Passoa in it. Deeeelish! For my main I ordered my favourite: Black Cod.

Es Vive was a hotel that we looked into staying at whilst we were searching for accommodation in Ibiza and we were very impressed by it’s styling and location. Unfortunately we didn’t get to stay there as it was VERY expensive and we went in high season but we did at least get to dine there, and have a little look around too. We also met the owner who was a fellow Englishman, and seemed very nice and down to earth, he was talking about owning the hotel, living in Ibiza, and his thoughts about all the other luxury hotels in Playa D’en Bossa. Some of them you have to have a pretty penny to even THINK about staying in.

Ibiza Old Town is where a little bit of history still lives. A lot of Ibiza has been modernised to make room for it’s reputation as the “party island of the world”, and thus a lot of it’s oldy worldy feel has been lost, but in Ibiza Town it’s still very rich in Ibizan culture and history. And it’s really quite lovely. Cobbled streets and old white stone buildings, coupled with the sparkling Mediterranean sea and mountains abound. A lot of people park there luxury super yaughts in this part of town too, and if you go down to the docks you can have a sneaky peak at some of them.

Stunningly beautiful: the sea was crystal clear, warm and very clean! I was in heaven on that beach and did not wish to leave. Ever!

The Jockey Club, Las Salinas

On Salinas Beach there was a beach restaurant called the Jockey Club. It’s been going for 20 years and they go by the slogan: “This is the place!” and it really was the place, it really was. Overlooking the beautiful beach, with a live DJ, refreshing, ice cold drinks and amazing food, I could see why it was popular. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table there.
I ate an amazing strawberry and goats cheese salad, which was so fresh, and so good that I almost shed a tear (I truly did). What a magical place.

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed my photo montage of my latest holiday. I hope to jet off on a Caribbean cruise for my next one but we’ll have to wait and see.

Where is your favourite holiday destination? – i’d love to know!

I’m baaaaaack!

Hi Bloggee’s and Bloggettes,

How the heck are you?!

I’ve just returned from the beautiful white isles of Ibiza, and I had a truly a-mazing time there. The restuarants, the nightlife, the beaches, all coupled with the beautiful scenery and lovely weather left me feeling very pampered and relaxed indeed.

Alas, I am back in London Town now and getting prepped for my foray into the Crafty Fox Market in Brixton on Sunday 6th October. It will be my first time exhibiting with the Crafty Fox team and I’m really excited as they always have a varied selection of some of the best designer-makers in London, with a great DJ spinning tracks allday and even a Tea Room. And best of all: It’s free!

Yes, it’s FREE!

So come on down (children are welcome too) on Sunday 6th October at the Dogstar in Brixton to smell my wonderfully fragrant wares and see some of the other amazing handmade items that will be sold there too. It’s going to be a blast!!

I’m off to Ibiza in 20 days time and I can’t wait! Beautiful weather, beautiful people, sun, sand and great house music, what more could you ask for??

Following our announcement about us trading at Crafty Fox in October I was contacted by the manager of the Brick Lane markets in East London about trading with them so I went down on Sunday to check them out. The markets were absolutely heaving with people and I could immediately see why there “Up Market” has been voted by Time Out as being the “Best Market for New Designers”. Brick Lane Markets boasts the largest, most creative, eclectic and unique finds in London. People that frequent Brick Lane spend there entire day browsing the amazing stalls, listening to the live bands that play there, hanging out with friends, and tasting some of the delicious looking international cuisines on offer. Almost anything you could possibly want you can find there, it’s like a trove of treasures.

Homegrown is a market that specifically caters to those looking for handcrafted goods, championing independent UK designers and makers and helping to gain exposure for small local creative businesses. It’s a relatively new concept for Brick Lane as there Up Market and Backyard Markets offer mainly sourced Vintage wares, clothes and jewellery and because it’s new it isn’t as established or as popular as the others but I think this is likely to change (and soon) as more and more people look for products that have been handmade, and preferably with an environmental and eco friendly conscience.

Though it was clear that Upmarket was the more popular market I’ve decided to trade at Homegrown as my products are all handmade and I think it’s important to promote that fact, plus I preferred the space as it felt quite light and airy in comparison to the other markets. Also it has a pretty reasonable trading rate. Trading at Up Market on the other hand, costs £100 a day (ouch), so better left until I’m absolutely sure I’ll be able to cover that fee methinks!

I’m thinking about trading in the month of September but we’ll have to see how it goes when I return from my hols at the beginning of the month as there are lots of products I want to make before then to make sure that my stall is as varied as possible.

I’ve been searching for some inspiration so that I can create an elegant yet visually arresting stall display for my products so if you have any great ideas then please feel free to share them with me here. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Have a grrreat day! 🙂

Mexico

Mexico

Las Vegas seems all but a distant memory for me now, even though technically it’s been a mere 4 weeks since I returned from there, lol. Alas, I have realised that holidays and me, well we just go hand in hand. Escaping the hugely unpredictable weather in the UK to seek out sun, sea and luxuriation is compulsory for me and I need AT LEAST 2 longhaul holidays a year, not to mention additional European or UK ventures. Last year was a great year as I managed to go on 4 holidays: to Jamaica, Ibiza, The Dominican Republic and Lake Como in Italy not to mention Wales and Leamington Spa. The previous year I went to New York twice, to Amsterdam, Herefordshire and Hertfordshire. So, I’ve had a pretty good run methinks.

In 2 weeks time (Wooooo!), Ian and I are going to Cancun in Mexico. I haven’t been to Mexico before, so I’m really looking forward to experiencing all that it has to offer. We’ll be staying at the “Adults Only” resort Secrets Silversands Riviera, with an all inclusive package that’s entitled “Ultimate Luxury”. I am keen to find out what that entails as it sounds splendiferous! P.S I realise that splendiferous isn’t actually a word but you know what I mean, lol.

So..Bring on the Ultimate Luxury oh yes indeed!
