Candle Massage Therapy

Candle Massage Therapy

Cloud Nine Candle

Aromatherapy Massage Candles (also known as Body Candles) are a relatively new phenomenon and they have been gaining popularity because they can be used in 3 ways:

  1. As a nourishing Body Moisturiser, to soften and smooth the skin
  2. As an Aromatherapy Candle, providing a fresh and beautiful fragrance to your home
  3. As a luxurious quick absorbing Massage Oil to relax the body and ease the mind

Our 3 in 1 Massage Candles are handmade in our London Studio from 100% natural ingredients including a Cotton Wick, a blend of Essential Oils, Vegetable Wax and Oils.

This luxurious product not only imparts a beautiful aroma but it is also packed full of vitamins and minerals such as Coconut Oil and Grapeseed Oil that will keep your skin soft, smooth and supple.

It comes in 2 captivating fragrances:

Serenity: Chamomile & Lavender and Sensuality: Ylang Ylang & Vanilla

How to Use your Massage Candle:

After lighting the wick and waiting for the wax to melt to your desired amount, blow it out and wait for it to cool down before checking the temperature (making sure that the wax isn’t too hot) before pouring the warm wax directly onto your skin.

Our Massage Candle comes in a heavy glass container within a white milskin gift box and is available to buy online on our NOTHS page now:

Rose Glow Mask Recipe

Rose Glow Mask Recipe

Here’s another totally gorgeous, natural FREE skincare recipe for you to try at home! Our Rose Glow Mask Recipe is a simple but effective way of giving your skin some much needed and well deserved TLC. The Manuka honey in the recipe will leave your skin clean and silky smooth, while the combination of both the Rhassoul and Kaolin clays will absorb any impurities and give your skin lots of beneficial minerals and nutrients. This is a great recipe that leaves your skin with a lovely, healthy glow and of course it smells wonderful too which is a bonus 😉 Try it out and let me know what you think!

Ingredients 1 tbsp Manuka honey 1 tsp Milk (whole or goats milk, or you can use powered milk) 1/2 tbsp Rhassoul clay Rose Floral Water 1/2 tbsp White Kaolin clay 1 tbsp. Rose petal powder 5 drops Grapefruit pink Essential Oil 1 drop Rose Essential Oil Rose Floral Water Grapeseed Oil (optional)

Instructions Mix the dry ingredients together: The clays & rose petal powder together with the powdered milk (if using). Add the Essential oils and a few drops of Grapeseed oil if you tend to have dry skin Then mix in the honey, milk and floral water to make a paste. The honey gives the mask a nice smooth texture and keeps the clay from flaking & crumbling. You can also add a tsp of honey powder to enhance those benefits. Apply in a circular motion. Leave on for 20 min. or so, then wipe off gently with a wet, warm flannel. Follow up with a little bit of Coconut Oil to moisturise. Wonderful!

wishwant & The Secret Scent Societe’

Wishwant collage

Yesterday we had some really great news here in The Secret Scent Societe’ lab – Our partnership with online gift buying store wishwant is now official, and there brand new website has just gone live! (yippeee!)

wishwant are offering an entirely new gift buying experience to the masses – not content with merely offering gifts, they have partnered with some of the most exciting UK brands (including us!) to offer a variety of products to people with a twist. And here’s the twist…rather then the gift buyer choosing the gifts (and potentially getting it wrong!),  it’s the gift receiver instead that chooses.

How does that work? I hear you ask

Well, wishwant allow the gift buyer to select up to 12 different gifts they think their recipient would like from a selection based on their budget, and then those gift choices are packaged up in a fancy booklet and sent to the recipient for them to choose from. Then they simply go online and redeem there gift and it gets sent to them. And voila! Everyones happy! 🙂

I really think that this concept is a great idea and I’ve had a look at some of the other companies partnering with them and there are some really lovely and unique products on there so I would definitely consider using the service myself. I think that this type of gift buying could become very popular in the future and I’m really excited to be a part of it. Currently my Body Souffle’ and Aromatherapy Candles are available to buy (or include as a gift suggestion). I can’t wait for people to start talking about and using this very unique service!

wishwant say:

We are excited to announce that our products are now available at wishwant.co.uk, a brand new gifting website with a twist.

Wishwant is a unique concept that allows you to curate a beautiful personalised gift book with a selection of twelve handpicked products for your loved one to choose from.

Founded by good friends Ksenia and Tetiana, this London-based company is hoping to revolutionise gifting this Christmas by making unwanted presents a thing of the past. At the heart of Wishwant’s philosophy is the desire to stock truly beautiful and unique products by carefully selected British retailers.

So, head over to wishwant.co.uk to add our products to your own personalised gift book and give a gift that the recipient is guaranteed to love.

So, if you’re stuck for ideas, run out of time, are on a budget, or just need some help in choosing a gift then please do take a minute to check them out!

Bentonite Clay & Manuka Honey Face Mask Recipe

Bentonite Clay & Manuka Honey Face Mask Recipe

The perfect homemade detox clay mask curtesy of The Secret Scent Societe’

You will need:

2 tsp Bentonite Clay (it should be grey/off-white in colour and very finely powered).
2 tsp Floral Water (I used Orange Blossom/#Neroli, but you can use any floral water you like, or just use normal tap water)
1 tsp Raw Honey (Native to New Zealand, Manuka Honey specifically is the very best honey that you can buy and you preferably want to go for one that’s been UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) certified as that means that it’s been tested by an independent laboratory for it’s superior quality.
1 tsp Vegetable oil (Olive oil, Grapeseed Oil or Jojoba Oil are good ones to use)
A small plastic tub to mix your clay mask in
A plastic spoon
(You can also add Essential Oils but I hardly see the point considering you’re going to wash it off)

Instructions:
– Using a plastic spoon (DO NOT use a metal spoon as Bentonite clay has unique properties that allow it to absorb not only toxins and impurities but also metal if it comes into contact with it, causing it to be less effective), measure out your water, oil and honey and stir.
– The clay should always be added to the water/oil/honey mixture, not the other way around as it will be easier to work with this way.
– Then using your spoon you want to add the clay to the mixture a bit at a time mixing thoroughly until it turns into a paste.
– Using clean fingers (or a clean makeup brush), apply the mixture, wait about 10 minutes (during which it may make your skin feel a little tingly or tight (this is normal), then gently remove with a warm wet face cloth.

Lastly: Moisturise. Argan Oil or Jojoba Oil are the best oils to use for this job.

And Voila!, you have made your very own face mask!
Your skin will feel as smooth as velvet. This recipe is packed full of amazing natural ingredients that will do absolute wonders for the maintenance of your skin. Use this mask once or twice a week to clear up any impurities and to take your skin to the next level! The mask must be discarded after each use and made anew each time you want to use it on your face because it won’t stay fresh for long.

Enjoy!

More on the benefits of Bentonite clay soon!

VOGUE

Just 2 weeks to go!

Just 2 weeks to go!

British-Vogue-Logo

Yes, tis a mere 2 weeks to go before my debut in British VOGUE Magazine and gosh am I excited!
My plan to replace all of the pictures on my NotOnTheHighstreet page is in process (a work in progress!) in preparation for lots of views (and hopefully, sales!)
It’s far from perfect but I think that finally I’m getting the hang of this photography thing, which is a relief I can tell you.

I have pre warned a few friends that I may be requiring there assistance should things get a little crazy following the VOGUE release and I’m giving away my very first batch of cold process soap to some specially selected friends and family with a prompt for them to review it and give me there honest opinion. I think this will be really helpful in order to improve on my next batch of soap, listening to there very honest advice and taking into account all of the things that they think constitutes a good bar of soap! I intend on doing many more soap tests to get the perfect bar before I release any for general sale.

I’m continuing to market my products on Etsy, though I’m not getting many bites. To be honest the only reason why I bother staying on there at all is for my presence on the internet, otherwise I wouldn’t bother. Despite my products being cheaper on there then on notonthehighstreet sales are still excruciatingly slow, almost non existent.

The feature in VOGUE is out on Monday 7th April so do pick one up! It’s called “Best Kept Beauty Secrets”

Also, if you haven’t already done so, do follow me on Twitter and/or Facebook and I will follow you/like you back! Links below.

Happy Wednesday! 🙂
