I’m off to Croatia tomorrow (yay!), and it’s my birthday next week Tuesday (double yay!).
I’ll be spending it at this gorgeous spa in Croatia: Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera:
Gorgeous isn’t it? – I can’t wait!
I’m going to be having their signature Cleopatra Heavenly White Hamam Treatment which incorporates a milk bath, a relaxing massage and a full body scrub using a silk glove. The whole treatment is almost 2 hours long so it’s very intensive. Afterwards we will probably eat at one of their on site restaurants which all look wonderful.
Now onto the real reason I’m going to Croatia: Suncebeat 6, 2015!
The lineup of house dj’s this year is IMMENSE and it is looking like it’s going to be stupendously good with live performances from the likes of Roy Ayers and The Brand New Heavies and these amazing dj’s that are flying from all over the world to perform:
Kerri Chandler. Louie Vega. Miguel Migs. Osunlade. Soul Dynamic. Tony Humphries. Dimitri from Paris. Sandy Rivera. Motor City Drum Ensemble. Dj Spen. Rich Medina. Reverend P. Rainer Truby. Lefto. Lay-far. Dj Jeff Afrozilla Andrew Ashong.
A truly unbelievable lineup, goodness gracious me.
And on that note here’s a beautiful song by Eric Lau and Rahel entitled “Guide You” that will be this years birthday song. Enjoy!
I no doubt will update you on my travels upon my sunny dispositioned return!
It’s absolutely freezing at the moment, and my body just cannot acclimatize to this horror. How the devil are you faring?!
They’ve been saying that it’s going to snow for the past week already but as yet nothing but frost and an intensely bitter cold has come fourth. Alas, I am going on holiday! Well, 3 holidays infact. YAAY!!
First, I’m off to Miami in March for a couple of days. I figured that I certainly could not be expected to wait all the way until the end of May to see the Sun so Ian and I are going to Miami for a few days to top up our tans pre family holiday in May.
Then we’re doing a family cruise which I’m particularly looking forward to. I haven’t gone away with my family for a couple of years so this is way overdue and I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the places that I’ve never visited before and enjoying all of the onboard entertainment and restaurants on our ship The NLC’s Epic! We’re also going to spend 3 days in Rome before we board the ship so we’ll get a chance to do the touristy thing to full effect and eat lots of Gelato. Oh yes.
Then in July I’m going back to the house festival in Croatia – Suncebeat! And the best thing of all is that they’ve recently released not just the names of the DJ’s who will be djing but Roy Ayers and The Brand New Heavies will be performing there live too. I cannot wait I tell ya!
So, bring on the celebrations! Whoop Whoop!
You’ve heard me talk about them many times. You’ve listened to the amazing music that they have inspired me to show you.
SSRadio (www.ssradio.com) have provide me and thousands of other listeners around the world with hours and hours of top-notch entertainment for years and I honestly don’t know what I would do without them in my life. Every Saturday evening whilst I’m getting ready to go out, every Sunday morning when I’m making breakfast I listen (and dance!) to the beautiful, uplifting music they play on their show. Not to mention my frequent journeys on the Tube all around London, via their fantastic (and free!) podcast service that I download weekly.
From music as good as this:
Soulful House: Atjazz ft. Ernesto – Put it on
to, Dubtribe Sound System – Do It Now (Knee Deep Club Remix)
and, Miguel Migs feat. Andy Allo – This Feelin
I heard it all from them first. They provide a consistently high level of music without the ads and I truly love them for it. Please, please help them to stay on air by donating.

Miguel Migs featuring Andy Allo – This Feelin’
This song is IMMENSE. And the most beautiful thing of all is that I’m returning to the Suncebeat festival in Croatia again next year and Miguel Migs is one of the headlining DJ’s alongside Louie Vega, Kerri Chandler, Black Coffee and Osunlade! Tremendous lineup.
The Suncebeat festival in Croatia “is only a daay-awaay!”
I’m packed and ready to get my party on! 8 days of beach parties & boat parties with the best house dj’s around the world, and endless sunshine!
Some more good news: I have found another website to rival Nasty Gal! It’s called Revolve and it’s based in California. Yes I know: Another Californian based fashion company. I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or what. They are a much bigger company than Nasty Gal and have been in business for longer and though their clothing is similar and they too are based in California that’s where the similarities end I think. Revolve is like the bigger (and perhaps a tad more refined) sister to Nasty Gal. Where I’ve had numerous problems with the duties and customs charges and general lack of adequate communication and information from their customer services team Revolve appear to have all of this under control.
Firstly, they have a couple of international shipping options including one where you can pay your customs and duties taxes upfront instead of on delivery, saving you time and anxiety (particularly when you are expected to have the exact change!). In addition, if you see something you like and it’s not in your size you can not only request it, but you can also pay for it upfront and request to be notified if it comes back in stock within the next month or ever. This is a very useful service indeed. How many times have you seen something you desperately wanted but it was out of stock and you never knew if it would become available again? – it happens to be the best of us. Indeed it’s happened to me quite a number of times and I have wished that there was such a system as this.
It’s a great perk for their customers and of course, it’s a benefit to them too. It means that their customers stay loyal.
But these are technicalities..the real reason why I like this company is because of their clothes. Well dresses mainly (as you know I am obsessed with dresses). The selection of dresses they have on their site is immense. Not only in size but in quality. There dresses are beautiful! Unlike Nasty Gal they don’t have their own brand, they don’t design the clothes but they have an eye for finding unusual and beautiful dresses with small independent designers around the world (indeed quite a number of my favourite Australian brands are on there), and they are amazing.
I haven’t gone as far as to look at their other clothing (though I’m sure they are of a very high standard also) but I did see their swimming costumes and dresses and that was enough for me to know that they are my kind of people!
Are they cheap? No. Are they reasonably priced? Erm, no, not necessarily. Are they worth the price? I would say so, Yes. It’s not the kind of place where you frequently make purchases but it’s the kind of place where if you’re looking for a standout frock you can find it. If you’re looking for a summer dress you will locate it here. If you’re looking for an occasion dress, an evening dress, a casual dress, you can find it here.
What do you think of these delightful treasures? Do you like them?
See you in a week or so!
