Thai Tales

Happy New Year!!

I’m back from Thailand! I’ve been back a few weeks now but I got sidetracked with work,  writing about it (more of a novella then a novel), my business, AND planning my new holiday to France in March. SO! I haven’t had time to update you on the goings-on’s til now.

Thailand was wonderful. It was kind of what I expected but better in a lot of ways. I was pleasantly surprised with the variety and the standard of restaurants, hotels and spa’s. The food in Samui was amazing, and we went to some of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to for next to nothing. The weather was rainy for the first few days but other then a few sporadic showers it stayed sunny and dry for the rest of the holiday. The Thai people were the perfect hosts and were warm, aswell as friendly. There was lots to explore and lots of activities to do that it was almost impossible to be bored there.

On Josh’s Birthday I had booked a boat trip around the islands which was postponed until Christmas Day due to bad weather so we actually spent Christmas Day on a yacht sailing around Angthong Marine Park and it was completely glorious.

We visited Numuang Waterfalls, which we had to do a bit of hiking to get to, but it was well worth it to see how beautiful and powerful it was.

We saw 3 Muay Thai fights FOR FREE, visited the Big Buddah statue and even saw some elephants, though we didn’t ride them!

We visited Fisherman’s Village, for their infamous Friday night market, which was a pedestrianized market with stalls selling everything from arts and crafts, to clothes, toys and jewellery, a lot of which were handmade. Fisherman’s Village also had bars, restaurants and had access to the beach where they would have entertainers performing every evening.

As for restaurants, we found many of good ilk, including Barracuda, Jahn at the Conrad Hilton (where we spent NYE), The Dining Room at Rocky’s Boutique Resort (ignore the name, this restaurant was  utterly romantic and done some really good food), Dr Frog’s (and Italian restaurant with amazing panoramic views), Rock Pool at Kanda Residences in Bophut and Rock Salt in Lamai, not to mention the Sunday Brunch at Beach Republic which offered a huge variety of really tasty food including their exceptionally good crepes (I had their caramel, banana, and coconut flakes crepes and yes, they were as good as they sound!)

Though 9 Gems was very stylish, it was a disappointment in terms of atmosphere and food. I wouldn’t return.

We also visited Tamarind Springs, a unique and very magical forest spa. A truly gorgeous place and VERY peaceful!

ALAS, they did seem to have a distinctive problem with STRAY DOGS in Thailand. Dogs seemed to be all over the place, itching their flea bitten bodies, rifling through bins searching for food, fighting, you name it. It wasn’t a very pleasant experience I can tell you.

I’m baaaaack!

I’m back from my holiday on the beautiful island of Croatia!
The Suncebeat festival was amazing: a perfect combination of relaxation, good music, good vibes, sun, sand and sea.
Croatia is a beautiful island, with a magical rugged charm that I really liked.
The people were very friendly too. I was there for the whole 8 days of the music festival which was situated in the Garden Tisno on a private and secluded bay. I spent my birthday there partying under the stars to some pretty damn good house music. We went for my birthday dinner at a seafood restaurant called Gina’s that blew me away, not just with the price (£13 for a coke, seabass, chips and vegetables and crepes with icecream), but with the sheer quality of the food. It was absolutely delicious! I implore you to go there if you’re ever in the area, you won’t regret it!

When I got back on Friday I was greeted by my 2 energetic balls of fluff Sansa and Franklin who have grown even more in the short time that I’ve been away. Thankfully they are both still as gorgeous, playful and mischevious as ever, which makes for highly entertaining viewing.

Franklin: Frankie goes to heaven

Sansa: Sansa baby

After Croatia my birthday celebrations continued with a trip to The Shard for dinner with my boyfriend and friends and then to the Dorchester the following day with some friends for champagne afternoon tea. Both were wonderful and very luxurious!

Next weekend is the final conclusion of my birthday celebrations with my Cinema Soiree. The films have been decided on and ordered (Mesrine and Intouchables), the gardening has been done, the projector has been tested, the snacks have been ordered. All that needs to be done now is a bit of housework to get the house in a hospitable condition, the ordering of the hot food and drinks and making the candles to put in the garden. Since the kittens are getting more and more mischevious it would be impossible to just let them roam free whilst the party is going on so we are going to have to keep them in one room. I have decided that rather then do a BBQ on the night which requires continuous attention, I am just going to provide some pizzas and hot dogs, nacho’s, ice cream and popcorn and I’ve ordered some cute ice cream tubs, popcorn and hot dog boxes to house them. I must say that I’m very pleased with the icecream flavours that I’ve chosen for the occasion and I don’t mind sharing them with you:

Rum and Raisin: Rum and Raisin Icecream

Mint Choc Chip: mint-chocolate-chip27web

Salted Caramel: salted caramel icecream

Coconut: Coconut Icecream

Hazelnut: hazelnut_ice_cream

My other favourite icecream flavours are Pistachio and Banana but I think serving 7 different icecream flavours at a small party for family and friends is a wee bit excessive 😉

What are your favourite icecream flavours??

Happy Friday!

And what a glorious one it is too! If you’re at home stuck indoors get out! tis truly gorgeous today (mind you I can’t talk as I’m sitting at my PC indoors typing to you!), lol

So, I know it’s been awhile since I updated you with a Etsy feature, but that’s not because I haven’t had any – I just honestly haven’t had the time.

BRIDEZILLA! has been edited now, I’m just getting my Aunty Jacqui to proofread it one more time before I upload it for sale in Amazon. It needs to be formatted for use as a Kindle download as I’m hoping that I’ve done everything correctly!

Also, I’ve heard from the guardian of my new kittens Franklin and Sansa who will be joining my home in just a few short weeks that they are doing well and growing fast!

A song for the weekend, and my song for the Summer! Enjoy!
