The nickname for Thailand is “The land of the smiley people” and in precisely 2 weeks time I will be smiling along with them as I’m off to Thailand! (yay me!)
Not only will it be my first time away from home at Christmas time, but it will also be my first time away with Ian at Christmas and both of our first times visiting Thailand. So, plenty of firsts!
Apart from sampling all of the lovely food on offer (I LOVE Thai food), I also want to see some of the famous Buddhist temples, and I’d love to see some wildlife (though I’m not sure that I agree with elephant trekking or watching monkey entertainment shows) – I’d much rather see animals in their natural habitat. And let us not forget the multitude of beautiful beaches of which Koh Samui, the part of Thailand that I’m visiting has an abundance of.
Anthong Marine Park, which has been featured in Hollywood films such as Leonardo De Caprio’s The Beach is spectacularly beautiful and offers a variety of activities on it’s surrounding islands such as kayaking, scuba diving and kayaking.
As we’ll be celebrating Ian’s birthday whilst we’re in Thailand, I have booked an allday boat trip to Anthong Park which he doesn’t know about yet. I’m excited because I’ve a pretty good idea that a) he’s not expecting it and b) he’ll love it. So I’m content.
I have no idea how they commemorate Christmas in Thailand but I’m sure it’s not going to be anything like in England so I’m just going to go with it and see what happens.
I’m off to Croatia tomorrow (yay!), and it’s my birthday next week Tuesday (double yay!).
I’ll be spending it at this gorgeous spa in Croatia: Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera:
Gorgeous isn’t it? – I can’t wait!
I’m going to be having their signature Cleopatra Heavenly White Hamam Treatment which incorporates a milk bath, a relaxing massage and a full body scrub using a silk glove. The whole treatment is almost 2 hours long so it’s very intensive. Afterwards we will probably eat at one of their on site restaurants which all look wonderful.
Now onto the real reason I’m going to Croatia: Suncebeat 6, 2015!
The lineup of house dj’s this year is IMMENSE and it is looking like it’s going to be stupendously good with live performances from the likes of Roy Ayers and The Brand New Heavies and these amazing dj’s that are flying from all over the world to perform:
Kerri Chandler. Louie Vega. Miguel Migs. Osunlade. Soul Dynamic. Tony Humphries. Dimitri from Paris. Sandy Rivera. Motor City Drum Ensemble. Dj Spen. Rich Medina. Reverend P. Rainer Truby. Lefto. Lay-far. Dj Jeff Afrozilla Andrew Ashong.
A truly unbelievable lineup, goodness gracious me.
And on that note here’s a beautiful song by Eric Lau and Rahel entitled “Guide You” that will be this years birthday song. Enjoy!
I no doubt will update you on my travels upon my sunny dispositioned return!
I’m back from my holiday on the beautiful island of Croatia!
The Suncebeat festival was amazing: a perfect combination of relaxation, good music, good vibes, sun, sand and sea.
Croatia is a beautiful island, with a magical rugged charm that I really liked.
The people were very friendly too. I was there for the whole 8 days of the music festival which was situated in the Garden Tisno on a private and secluded bay. I spent my birthday there partying under the stars to some pretty damn good house music. We went for my birthday dinner at a seafood restaurant called Gina’s that blew me away, not just with the price (£13 for a coke, seabass, chips and vegetables and crepes with icecream), but with the sheer quality of the food. It was absolutely delicious! I implore you to go there if you’re ever in the area, you won’t regret it!
When I got back on Friday I was greeted by my 2 energetic balls of fluff Sansa and Franklin who have grown even more in the short time that I’ve been away. Thankfully they are both still as gorgeous, playful and mischevious as ever, which makes for highly entertaining viewing.
After Croatia my birthday celebrations continued with a trip to The Shard for dinner with my boyfriend and friends and then to the Dorchester the following day with some friends for champagne afternoon tea. Both were wonderful and very luxurious!
Next weekend is the final conclusion of my birthday celebrations with my Cinema Soiree. The films have been decided on and ordered (Mesrine and Intouchables), the gardening has been done, the projector has been tested, the snacks have been ordered. All that needs to be done now is a bit of housework to get the house in a hospitable condition, the ordering of the hot food and drinks and making the candles to put in the garden. Since the kittens are getting more and more mischevious it would be impossible to just let them roam free whilst the party is going on so we are going to have to keep them in one room. I have decided that rather then do a BBQ on the night which requires continuous attention, I am just going to provide some pizzas and hot dogs, nacho’s, ice cream and popcorn and I’ve ordered some cute ice cream tubs, popcorn and hot dog boxes to house them. I must say that I’m very pleased with the icecream flavours that I’ve chosen for the occasion and I don’t mind sharing them with you:
Rum and Raisin:
Mint Choc Chip:
My other favourite icecream flavours are Pistachio and Banana but I think serving 7 different icecream flavours at a small party for family and friends is a wee bit excessive 😉
What are your favourite icecream flavours??
