Beeswax Hand Butter Recipe

Beeswax Hand Butter Recipe

This sweet and zesty smelling beeswax hand butter is perfect for those cold winter months when you need a little extra moisturising . Richly nourishing and made with 100% natural ingredients it can easily be made at home with a few select ingredients including beeswax which seals all the moisture into your skin, cocoa butter, shea butter and avocado oil and a few other ingredients.

Here is the full recipe so that you can try it at home for yourself!

You will need:

114 grams Beeswax

85 grams Cocoa Butter

7 grams Shea Butter

7 mls Lanolin

7 mls Avocado Oil

7 mls Tea Tree Oil

7 mls Jojoba Oil

7 mls Orange Essential Oil

An empty container to store your Hand Butter

Directions:

First, melt the Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter and Beeswax in a double boiler or Baine Marie then gradually add the other ingredients leaving the Essential Oil to last. Make sure that you stir all of the ingredients together thoroughly and only add the Essential Oil once the mixture has cooled down. Beeswax thickens fast so make sure you pour it quickly into your container before it thickens up as otherwise you will have to remelt it again and repour. Place in freezer until it had set up then take it out and wait for it to come to room temperature first before using.

This is a wonderful recipe that lasts a while due to it’s highly effective ingredients. I hope you enjoy it and of course do let me know what you think of it!

Provence in Spring Solid Perfume Recipe

Provence in Spring Solid Perfume Recipe

Solid Perfume is a more compact and undiluted, alcohol free version of your typical eau de toilette. It can be made with all your favourite essential oils AND you can store it almost anywhere – an old Vaseline tub, a lip balm container, a locket – you name it.  I bought a beautiful leather and silver locket in Lake Como a couple of years ago and I have my solid perfume in there. Not only is it gorgeous but it smells so good it makes me smile everytime I open it up.

And you lucky things are going to get the recipe so that you can make your very own. Exciting huh?!

You will need:

2 tsp  Beeswax

2 tsp Carrier oil (Olive oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil – whichever you prefer)

40 drops of Essential Oil

1 drop Vitamin E (optional)

Something to put your perfume in (old lip balm container etc)

Suggested Essential Oil Blend (but you can use whatever variation you like)

Provence in Spring

18 drops Chamomile EO

18 drops Lavender EO

4 drops Vanilla EO

Instructions

Firstly, you need to prepare your perfume oils. Using a pipette, combine your essential oils in a small container ready to go.

Then, using a double boiler or Baine Marie, gently melt your beeswax. This won’t take very long as you’re not going to be melting a lot. When the beeswax has melted you will need to work quickly to combine both the beeswax, the carrier oil (I like to use Sweet Almond or Grapeseed as they are almost odourless and non-greasy), Vitamin E (if using), and your ready mixed Essential Oils. Mix them together with a small spoon to blend. If you don’t work quickly at this point your perfume will set up making it hard to get into your container. Once you have mixed it sufficiently you can go ahead and pour it into your container. If your blend sets up before you have been able to get it into your container then don’t panic, just hover it over your double boiler to melt it a little (don’t melt all the way as you will lose some of your essential oils to evaporation).

Leave to set for a few minutes and Voila! You have your very own sweetly scented perfume. Welldone you! 🙂

Bronze Goddess Tinted Lip Balm Recipe

Good Arvo Bloggee’s and Bloggette’s!  How the devil are ya?

Today I have a most wonderful lip balm recipe for you inspired by the coming of Spring (yay!). Its called Bronze Goddess Tinted Lip Balm and I think you’re going to love it! It is super moisturising and will leave a subtle bronze tint on your lips so pucker up and enjoy! 🙂

You will need:

A suitable lip balm tube or pot to put your lip balm in

2 tsp. beeswax
2 1/2 tsp. coconut oil
1/2 tsp. cocoa butter
1 tsp. mango butter
1/2 tsp. vitamin E oil
1/2 tsp. castor oil
1 tsp. sweet almond oil
1 tsp. kukui nut oil
1 tsp. aloe vera oil
1/4 tsp. amber mica powder

A few drops of an Essential Oil (try to stay away from using Citrus Oils though as most are photosensitive which means that they are sensitive to the exposure of sunlight)

Directions:

Combine all butters and oils in a double boiler and melt them over gentle heat. Once all ingredients have melted remove pot from heat. Add essential oil if desired and then add the amber mica. Stir to blend well. Pour the mixture into pots or tubes. Let them cool and set.

Treasury Feature 11/11/13

Hi All!

I hope that whatever you did this weekend, it was a memorable one.
I had a nice relaxing weekend at home with my boyfriend. We watched loads of episodes of Breaking Bad (love it!) and my sister stayed over on Friday night and brought her freshly baked banana and walnut loaf with her. Mmmmm!

I spent at least 4 hours on Sunday morning working on product photography but in the end I wasn’t happy with any of the images as they all had a blue tint to them (probably something to do with the camera settings), alas I will have to do them all again – what fun! (not).

I am in 4 Treasurys this week! The first one is entitled “I’m not always a pink kind of girl” – which I can vouch for as I’m not a particularly pinky girl either, however I do like blood red, ox red, burgundy (all very similar I know, hehe) and blush pink and they all feature in this lovely treasury. My blush pink candle “Anniversary” is featured here.

Natural Skincare Ingredients Properties

Natural Skincare Ingredients Properties

DO you know what’s in YOUR skincare products? Are your skincare products full of mumbo jumbo chemically produced names that you’ve never heard of and don’t occur in nature? Are you being tricked by marketing spiel to buy extortionately priced beauty products that are not infact very good for your skin at all?

Well, we are going to reveal exactly what’s in our body cream right now AND tell you why these ingredients should be used in your skincare regime!

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender has a soothing and calming effect on the senses, with a beautiful, delicate sweet-dry-herbaceous note that blends with most essential oils, particularly citrus oils. It is a natural antiseptic, and can be used neat on the skin to heal and help to prevent scarring. Lavender Oil helps to eradicate common skin afflictions such as psoriasis, acne, oily skin, sunburn, bites and stings. One of the most versatile of the essential oils, it’s scent is pleasing to most people and is often used in both men and women’s perfume.

Shea Butter

Shea Butter is grown in West Africa and is considered to be one of the best all round natural body healers. Shea Butter is a creamy and richly moisturising butter, with Vitamin E and D and essential fatty acids. A powerful antioxidant, with UV protection, it is skin strengthening and protecting, collagen production stimulating, and makes the skin smooth, supple and radiant.

Beeswax

Beeswax is a natural wax produced by bee’s in there hive and has a variety of uses and benefits. An effective anti-bacterial, with emollient, emulsifying, moisturising and antiseptic qualities with an instantly recognisable creamy honey-like scent.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera gel is extracted from the Aloe Vera plant and is a beauty, skin and hair miracle!
It can be used to treat scalds, soothe burns, reduce tissue damage, relieve insect bites or stings, work as a fast absorbing skin moisturiser, prevent scarring and stretch marks, brighten the skin by reducing pigmentation and dark spots and aid the hair in growing, making it stronger, smoother and silkier.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fat soluable antioxidant. Aiding in healing the skin, protection from the sun, regenerating skin cells, retaining the skins natural moisture levels and making dull, dry hair look healthier and shinier.

All of these amazing natural ingredients can be benefited from in our new product: Skin Silk Shea Body Butter – If you want skin that you never thought was possible without paying out excessive amounts of money for lotions and potions that are chemically produced and have hardly any health benefits whatsoever then should try this: A completely natural, skin regenerating body butter using some of natures finest ingredients, with the beautiful, uplifting scent of Lavender.

Skin Silk Shea Body Butter comes in a stunning blush pink frosted glass container. Glass containers are best for protecting cosmetic creams from light oxidation and sunlight thus assisting with prolonging the shelf life of your products and we aim to use them to store all of our skincare products.

Skin Silk Shea Butter

I missed you!

I missed you!

I’m back because I missed ya! And I felt terribly guilty about being away for so long..actually, how long has it been? a week? 2? – no, I think it was just a week, nevertheless I figured it was high time to check in with you. So here I am! And how are you? What’s been going on? How has your week been?? Are you looking forward to the Bank Holiday?

As for me, I’ve been preparing for my holiday to Ibiza next week (I know, lucky me huh!), working on repricing, designing product labels, starting on my Aromatherapy candle range and trying out a few different Body Butter recipes, one of which was very successful and will be revealed as soon as I’ve taken some photographs of it. It is called Skin Silk Body Butter, and contains Shea Butter, Aloe Vera and Beeswax. Skin Silk has a decadent, soft, creamy texture that absorbs well into the skin and leaves the skin renewed, refreshed and totally revitalised. Scented with pure Lavender Essential Oil this Body Butter ensures that your skin is kept 100% free of harmful chemicals and toxins and is a completely guiltfree way of spoiling yourself (and your skin!)

My friend pointed out the other day that she had an allergy to Shea Butter and Monoi De Tahiti so I’ve decided to offer a range of Body Butters using different butters including Cocoa Butter (which I’m working on now), Coconut Oil, Coffee Butter, Mango Butter and perhaps even Pistachio Butter also. One for everyone! 🙂

A song for you! Enjoy!

Love the skin you’re in!

Love the skin you’re in!

Good Morning Everyone!

And what a beautiful month of July it’s turning out to be! Almost everyone I’ve spoken to has said that they had a BBQ this weekend, which explains why I couldn’t find anymore Halloumi in Sainsburys! hmpf 😉

My brother is running a Cardio Circuit workout class in North London on Monday evenings and I went along for the first time yesterday and almost COLLAPSED from the intensity of it.
